William E. Evans was born on June 27, 1942 to the late Estelle Evans in Jersey City, NJ. He departed this life on May 9, 2019.
Mr. Evans retired after serving 23 years in U.S. Army. He served 3 tours in Vietnam and received the Distinguished Award of the Bronze Star. Mr. Evans was a faithful member of Victory Interdenominational Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory a nephew, Fred C. (Kamala) Henley, Jr.; a niece, Wanda Henley (Orlando) Jones; a brother-in-law, Morris (Janice) Brown; and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra V. Brown.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Evans will be placed in the church on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29154, with Pastor Joann P. Murrill Officiating.
Interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the home, 1060 Willcroft Drive Sumter, SC 29154.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
