William "Billy" Copeland, departed this earthly life on Sunday September 25, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late James Henry Copeland and Lillie Johnson Copeland. He was born in Mayesville, SC on September 6, 1947.
William was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church. Billy attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1965 graduate of Eastern High School. William was employed at Excide where he began in the Charges Department and later in the L.E.C. line for many years. William continued to operate the family's business, Mayesville Music Company, which was founded by his father in the early fifties.
William leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters, Michelle R. Rogers of Mayesville, SC and Beverly Jones od Timmonsville, SC; one son, Michael William (Mary) Rogers of Stone Mountain, GA; one sister, Lillie Copeland (Reginald) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Trevon Rogers Maynor, Jaylen Simien, and Malcolm Carter, and a host of other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by a son, William "Lil Billy" Rogers.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday September 29, 2016 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Copeland will be placed in the church on Friday at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Sept. 30 at 12noon at Ebenezer AME Church, Mayesville with Pastor Rev. Phillip L. Washington, Officiating and Rev. Sammie Marshall, Presiding
Interment will be held on Monday October 3, 2016 at 10:00AM at Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC
Family will be receiving friends at the home 4985 Florence Highway, Mayesville, SC
