SFC Thomas Bernard Davis was born on October 20, 1968 to Thomas Benbow and the late Betty Davis. He was adopted by Mr. Henry & Annie Davis, who were his grandparents that preceded him in death. He departed this life on Monday, September 10, 2018 in Killeen, TX.
He was affectionately known as "Grip", "Mutta Pa", and "Pa" by family and friends. Thomas honored his country through his dedication and commitment with 21 years of honorably service in the US Army and reached the rank of SFC with many awards and accolades. Thomas also earned his master degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas University.
He leaves to mourn his father, Thomas (Shirley) Benbow; six children: Jamara Baldwin (Jamal) of August, GA, Kerry Wright of New Orleans, LA, Dalvinus (Amyah) Davis of Sumter, SC, Darius Davies of Dallas, TX, and Deshauna & India Davis of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Mary Lee Scott of Jamaica Queens, NY and Tonjia (Tracy) Turner of Fayetteville, GA; a brother, Darius Benbow of Sumter SC; step-sister, Tonya Henry of Jersey City, NJ; step-brother, James Henry, Jr. of Sumter; one great aunt, Mary Gilbert of Sumter; two sisters-in-law, Carol Davis of Jonesboro GA and Barbara Davis of Jamaica Queens, NY; six grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and the honorable men and women of the United States Army and a HOST of devoted family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC, with Rev. Sammie Marshall Officiating and Rev. Phillip Washington, Eulogist.
Interment will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 12pm.
Family will receive friends at 1310 Covent Garden Drive Sumter, SC.
