IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth Harvin
Pringle
November 12, 1954 – March 4, 2024
Mrs. Ruth Harvin Pringle was born in Sumter, South Carolina on November 12, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Henry Scarborough, Jr and Alethia Harvin Green (the late Oliver Green, Sr.). She was reared in the home by the Late Deacon Junius and Late Edell Smith Harvin. She departed her life on Monday, March 4, 2024, at MUSC, Charleston, South Carolina.
At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Walker Avenue Church of God. Ruth was a faithful member of the Walker Avenue Church of God. She served as a member of the following organization: CWC Missionary, Pairs and Spares, Pastors Aide Club, Senior Citizens Ministries, Mass Choir and the E.L. Clyburn Memorial Choir. On November 23rd, 2014, Ruth along with her siblings were honored as Fourth-Generation church members who provided untiring services.
Ruth was also a member of the Sumter High School Class of 1974 Alumni Association. She played an active role in planning milestone reunions and participating in various activities with her classmates.
On June 16th, 1974, Ruth joined in holy matrimony, to Reynard Pringle. From this union, two beautiful girls were born.
She attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC. Ruth worked in the retail industry for over 15 years and retired from Arby's as a Store Manager after 25 years of faithful service. During her tenure at Arby's Ruth was selected by management to travel to Hawaii where her store was recognized as a Million Dollar sales unit within the state of South Carolina.
She was very active in caring for the elderly in her community as well as her family. Teaching others was one of her greatest desires. Ruth was adamant that her two girls would receive the best education they could achieve. She took joy in serving her community through many unseen acts of kindness. Ruth touched the hearts of countless people, and she was loved and treasured,
by many. She loved participating in the Harvin and Smith Family Reunions. She loved shopping and buying for others, (whether you like it or not), she was the 'BOSS'. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and church. Her failing health did not prevent her from being a caring and giving person.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memories; her beloved husband, Reynard Pringle; two daughters, Tywanda (James) Hurt; Rayshone; her mother, Alethia Green and her twin sister, Naomi Harvin; Lynda (Robert) Doyle; Anthony (Kimberly) Green; Gardenia Robinson, Ashburn, VA., Moses (Emma) Harvin, Melbourne, Fl.; Rebecca Small, Sadie Harvin, Odell (Harry) Thompson, Geneva Greene, Shirley Ann Major and Charlene Scarborough all of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Doris Harvin, Fayetteville, N.C., one Uncle, Sam Scarborough; one Aunt, Lucille (Elijah) Cabbagestalk; in-laws, Patricia (Franklin)Staley, James (Beverly) Hargrove; Valarie (Engadine) Johnson; Deborah (Norman) Graham, Middleburg, Fl; Brenda Gaines, Spartanburg, SC; Kenneth (Donna) Hargrove, Wichita Falls, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
