Rosena W. "Zena" McKnight, 70, was born on May 6, 1948 to the late Marion and Christine W. Witherspoon in Clarendon County, South Carolina. Rosena departed this life on Friday, March 15, 2019 at her Sumter home with her family by her side.
"Zena" attended the public schools in Clarendon County and later became a proud member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She also gave back to her community in many ways. Rosena was a part of the America Association of State Troopers.
In 1967, "Zena" married her first husband, John Henry Brown, and God blessed them with two beautiful children: Michelle B Toney ad Charles John Henry Brown. She was later remarried to Robert McKnight, the love of her life, and he has been by her side since.
Rosena is survived by her husband, Robert McKnight; two children, Michelle B. (Glenn) Toney and Charles Brown; five grandchildren: Travis Brown, Latoya Brown (Lavern), Kayla Brown, Tywone Brown, Tallulah Toney; three honorary grandchildren: Takeem Wilson, Marcus Gregg, and Willie Lawson; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Witherspoon of Wilmington, DE and Omie Witherspoon; two sisters, Mattie (Harris) Gregg and Robertha (Frank) Richardson; sisters-in-law: Rosa Smith, Rosa J. Howard, and Inez McFadden; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Esther Johnson, Ruthie Lee McBride, and Winnie Ingram; and one brother, Charles Witherspoon.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 12-4pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. McKnight will be placed in the church on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 12pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Davie Brown Officiating.
Interment will follow in Bradford Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the home, 16 East College Street Sumter, SC 29150.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
