Roosevelt "Roe" Baxter, Jr., widower of Diane Riddick Baxter, was born on February 5, 1958 to Rosa Nelson Baxter and the late Roosevelt Baxter, Sr. in Pinewood, SC.

"Roe" was summoned home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Blue Ridge Nursing Home Sumter, SC.

"Roe" graduated from Aviation High School Long Island, NY in 1976. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his tour of duty, he returned to New York and worked for the New York Fire Dept. Later, "Roe" and his wife moved to SC, where he worked with the SC Dept of Corrections. He and Diane were foster parents to several children; showing them love and care which was instrumental in shaping their lives.

In addition to his mother, Mrs. Rosa N. Baxter, Roosevelt is survived by his siblings: Frances Malvinia Baxter (Henry Hilton) of NY and Reggie (Debra) Baxter of NJ; his children: Jamel Baxter, Ralique Baxter, and Quan Deloatch all of New York, and Vincent Baxter of the home; nine grandchildren; an uncle, James (Mary) Baxter, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by a daughter, Quanisha Baxter; and three uncles: Richard and Furman Nelson, and Freddie Baxter, Sr.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Baxter will be placed in the church on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church 7650 Summerton Highway (Silver Community) Pinewood, SC 29125, with Rev. W. J. Chandler, Pastor, Officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mark Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 113 Dant Street Sumter, SC 29150.
