Roger Durant, husband  of Alice M. Durant and son of the late Essex Sr. and Dora Durant he was born on November 7, 1955 in Washington , DC. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his residence.

He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Roger love the Lord and live life accordingly. He showed love to everyone he knew and never made himself a stranger.

He was educated in the Public School System of Sumter County.

Roger was joined in Holy Matrimony to his soul mate Alice McKnight Durant on September 15, 2007.

Early in life, Rogers first employment was with Roofco Company where he worked as a roofer for a number of years. He always showed his love and affection for others. His smile was welcomed to anyone whom he met. He would always lend a helping hand no matter where he was. Roger memories  will always  be remembered.

Roger memories will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Alice Durant of the home; two sons, Dayne (Sara) Durant of Sumter, SC and Charles Smith of Tampa, Florida' four grandchildren, Iynala Smith of Tampa, FL, Tashiana, Tylasia and Tashira all of Sumter, SC; two great -grands, Karter and Karson Powers of Sumter, SC; two sisters, Sardora Simmons and Betty Ann Durant of Sumter, SC; eight sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, three aunts, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, two brothers, Essex Durant Jr., and Donald Durant; three sisters,  Feola Durant, Beverly D. Harris, and Carolyn D. Parrott; one niece, Stephanie Durant and one nephew, Timothy Martin.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Durant will be place in the church on Tuesday at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be  held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 2pm at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Ave, Sumter with Rev. Dr. Ralph W. Canty Sr., Officiating

Interment will  follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pinewood, SC.
