IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Renee Ethelene
Licorish
December 13, 1949 – September 19, 2018
On the morning of Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Renee Etheleen Davis Licorish put on her wings instead of her customary Sketchers, and took flight on a celestial journey.
Renee was born on December 13, 1949, the second child born of the union of Norman and Catherine Pearson-Davis in Brooklyn, New York, both deceased. She has one older sister Norma Davis Lawrence, one younger brother Keith Johnson, as well as a step sister Phyllis Johnson Smith, from the union of her mother's second marriage to Charles Johnson.
Renee spent her formative years residing in Fort Greene Houses in Brooklyn.
After graduating from Washington Irving High School in 1967, Renee opted to enter the corporate world of banking. She was hired at Chase Manhattan Bank immediately after graduation, then proceeded to Western Electric Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank and finally, for the next 30 years, the Human Resources Administration of the City of New York. She retired as a high level manager from HRA in 2007. In 1970, she married Nathaniel Licorish and in 1972 gave birth to the apple of her eye, Tiffany. In 1985, she wed a second time to William McRrae, with whom she remained married for 25 years.
In 1999, she and William moved to Staten Island, NY with their mischievous and beloved Cocker Spaniel, Keno McRae, who predeceased her in 2005. After her divorce from William, she happily retired to Sumter, SC in 2012, where Norman Davis's relatives were a huge part of the community and adopted her into the fold. There, she created a new home with wonderful friends and her daughter Tiffany, who eventually moved from NYC to Sumter to be with her.
Renee leaves behind her daughter, Tiffany; stepdaughters, Janell Henderson and Rahsheeda McRae; her siblings, Norma, Phyllis and Keith; nieces Charise, Lessa, Chinyera and Jasmine; nephews: Jamal, Savonne, and Keith Jr.; step-nephew Corrado; along with many cousins, friends and colleagues.
Graveside Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Evergreen Memorial Park 802 N. Guignard Drive Sumter, SC, with Pastor Ricky Simmons Officiating.
