Rebecca "Becky" Burgess McFaddin, wife of Mr. Willie McFaddin, was born to the late Mr. James Burgess and Mrs. Azalee Epps-Burgress on January 31, 1943 in Clarendon County, SC. On April 25, 2018, the Lord called her from labor to reward at Harlem General Hospital in New York, NY.
"Becky" was educated in the Clarendon County School System and graduated from Walker Gamble High School in 1962. On July 7, 1962, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Willie McFaddin. Shortly after marriage, the couple relocated to New York and Becky decided to further her education. She enrolled in New York Community College, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Edcation. She then embarked upon a career working for many years for many years with the New York City Public School System as an Elementary School Teacher.
Becky's christian journey began at Melina Presbyterian Church, Gable, SC. Her journey continued at Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, NY. Becky had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, the latest fashion, and had a fondness for the color red. She loved helping others, entertaining at her home, and spending time with her family and close friends. She was also a passionate animal lover, especially her dogs.
In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by three brothers: Mr. Jasper Burgess, Mr. Robert Burgess, and Mr. Raymond Montgomery, and one sister, Ms. OlaLee Burgess.
Becky leaves to mourn her passing: her devoted husband of 56 years, Mr. Willie McFaddin; three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Ford and Mrs. Martha (James) Taylor of Sumter, SC, and Mrs. Mary (David) Thomas of Lynchburg, SC; four brothers: Mr. Willie Burgess, Mr. Alonzo (Cassandra) Burgess, Mr. Levern (Karen) Burgess all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Deacon Alphonso (Faye) Burgess of Bronx, NY; sister-in-law, Mrs. Roberta Harrison and brother-in-law, Mr. Wesley McFaddin of New Zion, SC; and host nieces, nephews, and other relatives and special friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. McFaddin will be placed in the church on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC, with Rev. Theodora Black Officiating, and Deacon Alphonso Burgess, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Melina Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gable, SC.
Family will receive friends at 126 S. Main Street Mayesville, SC.
