Obituary
Mrs. Rebecca Wesley Carson "Cissie" transitioned into eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, December 3, 2016. The daughter of the late Queen Lillian Belton was born on December 1, 1922 in Lee County, SC.
She was married to the late Coley Blease Carson Sr. To this union 10 children were born.
Cissie was educated in Sumter, SC and attended Lincoln High School. At an early age she moved to Linden, NJ and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She worked for over 30 years as a supervisor at Burry Biscuit, a division of the Quaker Oats Company before retiring in 1983 and relocating back to Sumter, South Carolina. Upon her return to South Carolina she became a member of Saint Paul A.M.E Church in Sumter where she remained a loyal and devoted member until her death.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, her beloved children, three sons, Coley (Arline) Carson Jr., Linden, NJ, Dr. Marcus (Regina) Carson, Sumter, SC and Stephen S. Carson of the home. Six daughters Aurelia Scott, Athens, GA, Dr. Carol (Robert) Carson-Warner, Chicago, IL, Anita Carson, Elizabeth, NJ, Miriam (James) Hazell, Plainfield, NJ, Kathryn (Jephthah) Bush, Cheraw, SC and Lisa (Joseph) Armstead, Washington, NJ, three foster children, Annie (Ed) Madden, Cheraw, SC, Dorothy Spann, Harlem, NY, Dr. Marion Harris (Linda) Spann, Baltimore, MD, one step son Hammie (Mary) McCray, Rochester, NY, daughter-in-law, Leila Carson, Sumter, SC and one foster sister, Joy Belton Smith, Elizabeth, NJ , twenty-two grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a beloved son Kenneth Roman Carson and sons-in-law Robert A. Scott, Robert Lee Dixon Jr. and grandson, Adrian S. Wright.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 2-7pm at Job's Mortuary.
Wake Service will be on Friday from 5-7pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Carson will be placed in the church on Saturday at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Dec. 10, 2016 at 12noon at St. PAUL AME Church, Plowden Mill Road, Sumter with Pastor Frederick Graves, Officiating, and Rev. Dr. Friendly Gadson, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in St. Paul AME Church Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends at the home 1460 ReedRoman Road, Sumter
