Obituary

Queenie McGee-Hunter was born on August 17, 1953 to the late Maydell and Henry McGee in Sumter County. She departed this earthly life on September 11, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.

She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1971. she was employed by Charm House and Gold Kist. She had a very strong work ethic. She had a strong passion for doing yard work. She loved flowers and stayed in her yard daily to make sure it was nice and neat. After cleaning her yard she enjoyed sitting on the porch.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and also assisted with the Church of Christ Mass Choir as a special guest vocalist on many occasions. She truly loved her church and served faithfully until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Anthony Hunter; two devoted sisters, Barbara Carolina of Mayesville, SC and Delores Cox of Sumter, SC; a host of special nieces and nephews; Jacqueline Clavon, Rico Wilson, Lorenzo Wilson, Anthony Clavon, Ransom Floyd and Tiffany Jefferson; a very special god brother, Johnny Howard; two uncles, Sylvester McGee and Leroy Hudson; two aunts, Josephine Yearwood and Susan Hudson; two very special friends, Viola Jefferson and Ella Brunson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jamie McGee; a sister, Rosa Clavon, a special nephew, Jimmy Wilson and a brother-in-law, Marion Clavon.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Hunter will be placed in the church on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Church of Christ Cypress 680 Sandy Grove Church Road Lamar, SC 29069, with Minister Sylvester McCray Eulogist, and Elder Robert Shannon, Presiding.

Interment will follow in Church of Christ Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home of her sister, 14 Republic Street Mayesville, SC 29104.

Job's Mortuary, 312 S. Main Street, Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
