Pastor Lula Ann Johnson Davis, the daughter of the late Hammie P. Johnson and Inez Couser Johnson, was born on July 10, 1919 in Clarendon County. She departed this life on Friday, September 2, 2016 at her residence.
She attended the public schools of Clarendon County, she later received a B.S. Degree form Morris College, Sumter, SC and her Masters in Divinity from New York Seminary School of Divinity, Manhattan, New York.
Pastor joined Second Presbyterian Church (USA) Sumter, SC at an early age.
She was a member and an Assistant Pastor of Mount Morris Ascension Presbyterian Church in Harlem, New York for 55 years. She retired from New York Department of Social Services after 30 years. Mrs. Davis taught in Lee County Public Schools System before traveling to New York.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Elder Thomas Davis of the home; sister, Hattie Bell Johnson Smith of Sumter, SC; one niece, Shirley L. Johnson of Coco Beach, FL; two nephews, Hammie L. (Esther F.) Johnson of Sumter, SC and Robert L. (LaVonda) Johnson of Columbia, SC; six grand nephews; six grand nieces, one great nephew; special friends, Daisy Howard and Chauncey Mouzone of Sumter, SC; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John K. Johnson, Isaac Johnson, and Robbert Mack Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Katie Johnson and Thelma H. Johnson; two nephews, Elwood Johnson and Joseph T. Johnson.
Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday September 6, 2016 from 5-7pm at Job's Mortuary.
Pastor Davis will be placed in the church on Wed. Sept. 7, 2016 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Wed, Sept. 7, 2016 at 11am at Second Presbyterian Church (USA), Sumter with Pastor Rev. Dr. Ella Busby, Officiating
Interment will follow in Melina Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gable, SC
