Obituary

Ossie Elizabeth McCray, affectionately known as "Lile," the youngest of 17 children was born to the late Sampson McCray, Sr. and Elizabeth Capers McCray on October 27, 1956 in Sumter, SC.

She was educated in public schools of Sumter County. During her early years, she was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, SC. Later, she relocated to Philadelphia, PA and joined From the Heart Church, where she attended faithfully until her health failed.

She was an Eastern Star in Sumter, worked for Shaw Manufacture, and attended Central Carolina Tech. to become a Nursing Asst.

She cherished her precious daughter, Theresa, who stood by her and was her care giver, along with her sister, Mary Chandler. "Lile" departed this life on Monday, December 17, 2018 at her residence in Philadelphia, PA.

Ossie leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Theresa Sykes & Darryl Stokes of Lynchburg, SC; two grandson, Quentrill White of Sumter, SC and Willie White III of Greenville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Semaj Watts of Greenville, SC and Anastii White of Blythwood, SC; four sisters: Mary Chandler, Sarah Holloman both of Philadelphia, PA, Lauretha (Benjamin) Anderson of Lynchburg, SC, and Deloris (Luther) Bells of Sumter, SC; four brothers: Willie Albert (Ella) McCray of Newport News, VA, Joseph McCray, Henry McCray both of Sumter, SC, and Arthur Wilson of Greenville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McCray and Bertha McCray both of Sumter, SC; special nieces: Tyiesha, Inez, Glo, Patricia, Ophelia, Lois, Lile, Dorothy, Wendale, Shenita, Jeanetti, Annetti, Carolyn, Elouise, Sadie Mae, Chris Ann, Clara, and Annie Mae; nephews: Luther III, Sammie, Jermaine, Calvin, Devon, James Lee, Lee Jr., Thomas, Terry, Benjamin Jr., Corell, Isaiah, Abdula, Shaee, Richard, Richard Jr., Jamie; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ossie was preceded in death by a grandson, Kuenshay White; four sisters: Roberta Weeks, Pearl Wilson, Beulah Wright, and Katherine Moore; seven brothers: Albert, James, Sam, John Lee, James Hugh, David, and Isaiah McCray.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 2-pm at Job's Mortuary.

Ms. McCray will be placed in the church on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC with Rev. Abraham Temoney, Jr., Officiating.

Interment will follow in Old McFadden Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 4128 Patriot Parkway Sumter, SC 29154.
