Obituary

Neaomi (Tute) Briggs Woods was born on Feb. 14, 1940, in Lee County to the late Walsh and Katie Williams Briggs. She was the widow of Bobby James Woods.

On May 31, 2017, after a very long illness, God saw the need to call her to rest.

Neaomi received her education in the public schools of Lee County.
She was a loving, caring, giving and outspoken person with a great sense of humor.

She loved her children and her children loved her too. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters, Geraldine (Tarrance) Capers, Delthine (Sammie) Wilson of Sumter, Dorothy (John) Cooley, Adriane Woods of Powder Springs, Georgia and Kathy (Tyron) Chatman of Marietta, Georgia; five sons, James Woods, Carl Lee (Diane) Woods of Sumter, David Lee (Amanda) of Powder Springs, Lewis (Anita) Woods and Roosevelt Woods of Marietta; four sisters, Rosa Lee Woods of Jersey City, New Jersey, Sarah Charles, Assistant Pastor Katie Dupont of Ridgeland and Dr. Alice Briggs of Little Fairy, New Jersey; one brother, Willie Briggs of Jersey City; seven sisters-in-law, Mary Briggs, Shirley Woods, Mary Briggs, Annette Woods, Rosa Mae Woods, Ruth McKnight and Ruby Green; four brothers-in-law, William Dupont, Covell Woods, Levi Woods and Alexander Woods; two aunts, Naomi Brown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Victoria Williams of Washington, D.C.; 22 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by two brothers, Roberts Briggs and Lawrence Briggs and one sister, Johnnie Ruth Charles.
Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Woods will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Thursday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 14 Brand St., Sumter, Pastor Larry C. Barnes, officiating.

Interment will follow in Goodwill Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 220 Rolling Creek Dr., Sumter.
