Mrs. Myrie Isolyn Peterson daughter of the late Sylvinia and Arthur Beckford, departed this earthly life on Monday, October 30, 2017 at McLeod Hospice Center, Florence SC, surrounded by family and friends.
Myrie was born on November 24, 1944, in the small parish of Lowe River, Jamaica West Indies. She was the thirteenth child of fourteen children. After completing her education in Lowe River JA, she came to the United States in 1969. She cared for others for over 20 years as a housekeeper and home care giver to many families.
Myrie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, a person who will be remembered for her caring and generous spirit. She was selfless, genuine and was drawn to people in need. Well into retirement, she devoted her time caring for friends, family and members in her community. In addition, to caring for others she enjoyed cooking and preparing hot meals for all of her family and friends and kept feeding them until they could eat no more.
In 1976, she was married to the late love of her life, Grandison Peterson Jr. (PJ).
In addition to her parents and husband , Myrie was preceded in death by seven brothers Ranold Reid, Hepburn Beckford, Vivian Beckford, Vincent Beckford, Wesley Beckford, Herman Beckford and Aston Beckford; three sisters Jestina Pitters, Ersie Beckford and Shirley Beckford.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 2-7pm and a Wake Service will be held from 6-7pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Peterson will be placed in the church on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 9am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10am at Goodwill Presbyterian Church (USA), 295 N. Brick Church Rd., Mayesville, SC 29104, Rev. Elijah Washington, Officiating and Elder Calvin "Earl" Peterson, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Goodwill Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 3100 Mt. Sinai Church Rd., Lynchburg, SC 29080.
