Mr. Melvin Shavio Cain was the third child born to the late Thomas and Mattie Cain on May 8, 1946. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC.

He was educated in the public schools of Lee County, SC. After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School, he attended Vorhees College and later enlisted in the United States Army, where he served faithfully for 3 years. Melvin was employed by Santee Print for over 30 years until his health began to fail.

At an early age, Melvin joined Unionville AME Church in Mayesville, SC. He was affectionately called "Bobby" by those who knew and loved him dearly. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, granddaddy, and a faithful friend.

Melvin Shavio Cain leaves to cherish his fond and precious memory: his wife of 48 years, Mary M. Cain of the home; one son, Kendall Lexter Moses of Florence, SC; a loving and devoted, goddaughter whom they raised as their granddaughter, Ms. Iyanna K. Nero of Mayesville, SC; two loyal and devoted friends, Ms. Josephine Wells and Mr. Isaac Green; two sisters, Janie Mae (William) Wells of Lanham, MD and Ms. Dorothy Wright of Mayesville, SC; three brothers: Charlie (Mary) Cain of Lanham, MD, John (Viola) Cain of Sumter, SC, and Mr. Henry Cain of Columbia, SC; two brothers-in-law, Otis Moses and O'Dell Moses of Capital Heights, MD; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Juanita M. Austin of Washington, DC; a devoted cousin, Mrs. Victoria Carter of Bishopville, SC; three nieces: Rev. Gloria A. Thompson, Ms. Wargaret Cain, and Ms. Chantell Cain; five nephews: Vincent D. Wells, Gustavious Cain, Ryan Cain, Sheldon Cain, and Willym Cain; and a host of great and great-great grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, all who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by two nephews, Tommy Cain and Anthony Wells; and one great-grandson, Malachi Malek Nero.

Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 3-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Cain will be placed in the church on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Unionville AME Church 1330 Swimming Pen Road Mayesville, SC 29104, with Rev. Alvin E. Webb, Pastor, Eulogist and Rev. Harry L. Wilson Presiding.

Interment will follow in Unionville Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 102 Mikado Road Mayesville, SC 29104.
