Matthew Esene Odibo Sr., 69, husband of Theodosia Zeigler Odibo  and son of the late Thomas Odibo and Aduke Odibo, was born on December 18, 1948 in Lagos, Nigeria. He departed this life on January 20, in Houston, Texas.

Matthew obtained his formal education from the public schools in Lagos, Nigera and later moved to Canada, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Electronics from Sir-Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He retired from Houston Federal Reserve.

He started his life walk with Christ at an early age at St. Domonics Catholic Church, Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa.

Matthew was united in holy matrimony to Theodosia Zeigler in 1974. To this union, they were blessed with four children.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a devoted wife, Theodosia Z. Odibo; four sons: Major Otazeria B. (Dana) Odibo, Justin (Jamara) Odibo, Melvin O. (Orelia) Odibo, and Matthew E. Odibo II, one daughter, Kristain E. Odibo; two brothers, Joseph (Cecelia) Odibo and Michael Odibo; eight grandchildren: Naomi, Hope, Morgan, Justin, Jr., Kaiden, Melvin, Jr., Mason and Keoni Odibo; seven sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary E. and a son, Vista E. Odibo.

Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 2-5pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Odibo will be placed in the church on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11am at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S Salem Avenue, Sumter SC, with Rev. Clifford Gaymon, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter, SC.
