Obituary

Martell Louis Adams, loving son of Louis and Rutha Mae Junious Adams, was born November 27, 1986 in Clarendon County. He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a 2005 graduate of Scott's Branch High School. Martell was known to many as Marty, Uncle Marty, and Foxx. On Thursday, August 13, 2020, God called Marty's name and he answered.

Martell accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was a very faithful, dedicated, and lifelong member of Antioch Union Methodist Episcopal Church of Pinewood, SC. He was very active and served in various capacities. He sang on the youth choir, served on the usher board, soundman and church drummer until his health no longer allowed him the strength.

Martell was a former basketball assistant coach of Scott's Branch Middle/High School. Marty was also an AAU Basketball coach/assistant. He was on the coaching staff at Clarendon Hall Varsity Basketball Team in Summerton, SC. His team won the 2019-2020 State Championship. This was his most proud accomplishment. He had an abundance of love for the coaches and his players. Marty was a formerly employed at Glasscock as a truck driver.

Martell leaves to celebrate his legacy: his parents, Louis and Rutha Mae Adams of the home; two sisters: Dr. CoTrease (Brandon) Brooks of Sumter, SC and Shamekia Adams of Pinewood, SC. His niece, whom he loved dearly, Jazlyn Lawson of Sumter, SC; three nephews: Jeffery Lawson, Jr., Brandon Brooks, Jr of Sumter, SC and Kyson Adams of Pinewood, SC. his grandfather: Esau Junious of Summerton, SC; a special god-sister, Erica Adams Caldwell; his adopted brothers: Jermell Adams, Jamall Adams, Jerrell Adams, Jeremy Butler, Louis Green, Jr., Shimari Junious and Nicholas Ragin. his adopted sisters, Kimberly Johnson and Quaniece Robinson; aunts and uncles: Ruth Ann Adams (Godmother), Willie Mae Adams, James (Evelyn) Adams, Gladys Nelson, Mateline Junious, Julia Jenkins, Ruth Williams, Patricia (Robert) Lancaster, Rutha (James) Hodge, Willene McBride, Minister Betty Adams, Issac (Yolanda) Junious, Dwayne Adams, Nathaniel (Bertha) Williams, Ernest (Loretta) Williams, Esau Junious, Minnie Horton Junious, Robert Williams, James Carter and Michael Carter; special adopted families: Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Dinkins, Willie G. Moore, Mr. & Mrs. Roger Richardson, Mr. & Mrs. Ansley Ragin, Mrs. Maxine Madison and Mrs. Daisy Moore; special friends: John Perry, Demond Lundy and his warrior partner, Mrs. Paula Bryant; godparents: Mr. & Mrs. Ike Jordan; six god-children: Cayden Lee, Jamarion Adams, Davion Jackson, Kyleigh Kind, Ni'Lynn Dow and Ezekiel Green; and a host of other god-sisters, god-brothers, special cousins/cousins and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dinah McConico Junious, paternal grandparents Louis Adams, Victoria Adams and god-father Dennis Jake Adams

Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Adams will be placed in the church on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 12pm on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 South Salem Avenue, Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Cheryl Gadsden Officiating and Elder Barry Gadsden, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in Antioch Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends at the home, 3875 Bomar Trail, Pinewood, SC 29125
