Obituary

Deacon Marion Walker, Sr., son of the late Deacon Clarence and Deaconess Ella Mae James Walker, was born on May 1, 1943. He departed this earthly life on November 19, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey surrounded by his loved ones.

He lived a life of faith and was a lifelong member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully in many capacities. Deacon Walker attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the Class of 1962 and a graduate of Sumter Area Technical College Field of Welding. He was employed at Chaney Farms, B.L. Montague, and Westinghouse (which later became Eaton).

Deacon Walker was married to the love of his life, Reverend Georgia May Holliday Walker for over 53 years and to this union, they had three children.

His memory will be cherished and lived on through his loving wife, Rev. Georgia Walker; two sons, Marion (Sophia) Walker, Jr., of Leavenworth, KS. and Michael (Paula) Walker of Manning, SC; a daughter, Savitri (Oral) Phillips of Sumter, SC; three children reared as his own: Loretta (Roland) Baker-Yates, Heather (James) Shaw, Willie Bradley; fifteen grandchildren: Laurence, Victoria, Jordan, Micah, Paul Nicholas, Oral Jr., Candance, Georgia Madison, Caleb, Alphonza Jr., Antonio, Jazmen, Janiyah, Jaylin, Justin; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Queen Elizabeth (James) Baker of Ft. Washington, MD; one sister-in-law, Jimmie Lee Montgomery of Sumter, SC; one brother-in-law, Sammie Lee Singleton, Sumter, SC; two aunts, Elease James of Sumter, SC and Catherine Walker of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, Herbert James of Sumter, SC; three goddaughters: Tonda Meadows, Rev. Donna Jackson, and Latoya Watkins; two godsons, Joseph 'Kinney' Montgomery and Kelton Richburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Lou Ellen Walker Jones, Dorothy Walker Singleton, and Hattie Walker Bradley; brother-in-law Samuel Jones; maternal grandparents, Wesley and Queen Victoria James; paternal grandparents Clarence and Lula Walker, and Mother-in-law Georgia Myers Holliday.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Deacon Walker will be placed in the church on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 12noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Enon Missionary Baptist Church 2990 Pinewood Road Sumter, SC 29154, with Pastor Julia Ann Hayes, Eulogist and Rev. Rossi Ramsey Officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park

Family will receive friends at the home, 976 Jensen Road Sumter, SC 29154.
