August 30, 1938 – November 20, 2020
Maggie McCoy Skipper, one of fourteen siblings, was born on August 30, 1938 to the late Jimmy and Darkie McCoy Davis. She departed this life on Friday, November 20, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Sumter, SC.
Maggie, as she was called by many, received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She worked at Exide Battery until her health declined. Maggie was lifelong member of Congruity Presbyterian Church (USA) in Gable, SC. Her faith in God never wavered.
Maggie will always be remembered by her kindness to others and her wisdom. She always wanted to help others, especially her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Carlene (Kingdom) McCoy, Sandra McCoy and Teresa (Reggie) Dozier all of Sumter, SC; a special granddaughter reared as a daughter, Courtney (Tony) Jacobs; thirteen grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished dearly; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Ella Rose Hayward, Sarah Evans both of Sumter, and Mary Jane McCoy of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law, Marie Davis and Geneva McCoy both of Sumter, SC; a special godchild, Ceanna (Cece Rider) Baxter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Skipper; two sons, Robert and William McCoy; one daughter, Marcella McCoy; a grandson, Xavier L. McCoy; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Skipper will be placed in church on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 South Salem Avenue, Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Alonza Washington Officiating.
Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 6695 Hidden Haven Road, Sumter, SC 29154.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
