Lula Bell Epps, daughter of the late James Chandler and Marietta McCray was born March 10, 1942 in Shiloh, SC. Lula Bell was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Harry Epps. She attended Eastern School in Sumter, SC and was a stay-at-home mom. Lula Bell was a loving mother and devoted wife and Christian. Lula Bell joined Asbury United Methodist Church at an early age.
Lula was known as the Mother of the Community and was also considered as "Mother Maxx" of the Maxx MC of Lynchburg. She loved people and helping others. Many turned to her for fro advice and support. She was considered a second mom to many in the community . Lula's greatest past time was fishing, shopping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would fish everyday if she could.
She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Left behind to mourn but cherish her precious memories, seven children: Jerome Epps of the home, Legrant (Elizabeth) Epps of Columbia, SC, Harry Epps, Lula Mae (Thomas) Rufus, Lois Epps and Wayne Epps both of Charlotte, NC, and Michael (Theresa) Epps of Monroe, NC; two siblings, Nick McCray and Sadie Hampton; and a host of grands, great-grands, nieces, and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by thirteen siblings: Lander Epps, Louise McCray, Inez McDowell, Mary Jeter, Ula Elmore, Martha McFadden, Ola McFadden, Susie Wells, Willie T. Chandler, Cornell Chandler, Howard McCray, Wesley McCray, and William McCray.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Epps will be placed in the church on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 355 Pudding Swamp Road, Lynchburg, SC, with Pastor Shirley Ann McKnight Officiating and Rev. Ernest Frierson, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Goodman Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the home, 480 Pudding Swamp Road, Lynchburg, SC.
