Elder Lillie M. Montgomery-China, wife of Elton China, quietly transitioned to her eternal home, Wednesday morning June 6, 2018 at the Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 11, 1936 in Lee County. She was a daughter of the Late Holly and Anna Wilson Montgomery.
Elder Lillie was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church (USA),where she was a member of Sessions, Homecoming Committee, and assisted with the ushers and Sunday School. She was also a member of the Gospel Choir which was dear to her heart. She was employed as a machine operator at Santee Print Works for many years.
Elder Lillie enjoyed serving the Lord, as well as spending quality time with her loving family and friends, she especially enjoyed cooking for her husband and children. Family was everything to mother Lillie.
To Celebrate her life and cherish her memories in addition to her husband, two daughters; Denise (Robert) Harry, and Barbara Ann Toney both of Lynchburg, SC; three sons, Clifton (Connie) Montgomery of Bladensburg, Maryland, Albert Montgomery of Columbia and Rollie (Karen) Montgomery of the home; a niece reared in the home, Gloria McDonald of St. Charles, SC; three step-daughters, Valerie China, Jackie (Terry) Rufus, and Roxanne (Isaac) McDowell, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother; Holly (Mary) Montgomery of Sumter; sisters-in-law, Mattie, Blanche, Ramona, and Emma Bell Montgomery, Blossom James, Lena (Marvin) Benson, Sarah, Agnes, and Ethel China, one brother-in-law, Frank China, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a sister in Christ, Mildred Britton. She will also be missed dearly, by the many children she nurtured in her neighborhood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; six brothers, Ashby, Asbury, Luther, Albert, Willie and Clifton Montgomery; three sisters, Carrie Dell Fulwood, Emma Lue Wells, and Christine Bonner.
Public Viewing will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 3-8pm at Job's Mortuary.
Family will receive friends from 6-8pm at the Mortuary.
Mrs. China will be placed in the church on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11 at Goodwill Presbyterian Church (USA) 295 Brick Church Road, Mayesville, SC 29104 with Rev. Dr. Franklin D. Colclough, Sr., Officiate/ EulogistFuneral Service
