Obituary

Lillie Mae Cantey, affectionately  known as "Katie Mae" was called  home to rest in the arms of our precious Lord and Savior on July 31, 2018 at her residence in Sumter, SC. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was born on April 26, 1948.

She attended the public schools of Sumter, Lillie Mae Cantey Christ  as her Lord and savior at an early  age. She attended  the church of Church by Faith.  She was employed by the Carolina Pigeon Plant for 12 years and later became a self employed Infant Care Giver. Lillie's self employed job gave  her the opportunity to care for  hundreds of children throughout several different states. She loved and cared for the children families she worked for as if they were her own. Lillie Mae traveled and took care of these families until her health began to fail. She shared a special love  for her children, grands, great grands and family. She will be remembered for her smile, jokes, laughter , and her willingness to care for children.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories;  father, L.T. Rudd of Sumter; two daughters,  Michelle Rudd,  Juanita Rudd of  Sumter, and two adopted daughters, Kemona Hill and Leann  Hoskins; one son, Anthony  Cantey of Sumter; twelve grandchildren, Shaina Rudd, Jerelle Rudd, Delshin Rudd, Akeina Francis, Marek Francis, Brittany Idlette, Alexander Rudd, Nyzaire Rudd, Zykerria Rudd, Keith Walker and Tamya Nero; a host of great grands, nieces, nephews; one sister, Margaret (Leon) McMillian; four brothers, Montsho K. Oluwa (Evelyn Kershaw), Pete ( Doris) Frierson, James Blanding Sr. and Robert Cantey of Georgia;  three God children, Betty Dennis, Zion Hill-Weston and Diane Pringle; a special companion, Herbert June of Sumter, SC; one son-in-law, Sheldon Watter; one sister-in-law, Maisie Blanding; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula G. Rudd, three children, Kathleen R. Watters, Alexander  Rudd, and Larry Smith; one brother, Willie Bobby Blanding; two sisters, Lauran Blanding and Deloris Felder.

Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Ms. Richardson will  be placed in the church on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Church of God by Faith, with Pastor Elder Mack Wilson, Minister Ronald Johnson, Officiating and Pastor Wayne Brunson, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Family will be receiving friends at home 613 North Magnolia Street, Sumter, SC 29150
