On February 26, 2018, Leroy Washington left this earthly home to be with the Lord. He was born on October 24, 1941 to the late Ella Webb Washington and Darius Washington in Sumter, SC.

Leroy attended Congruity School and Church. In 1958, he moved to Baltimore, MD and began working as a brick mason for forty years. In Baltimore, he attended Faith Temple Church until he returned to Sumter, SC and reunited with the Congruity Presbyterian Church family.

In 1996, he married the love of his life, Yvonne Dutton. They have been married 22 years. Leroy was the devoted father of 8 children. He was a stern but loving father. His love of mentoring children was a beautiful thing to see. He always tried to lead them in a spiritual and positive direction, whether they were his or someone else's. He was known in some circles as "Pop Pop." He also was a handy man for anyone who needed him. At the time of his death, he was still working; doing maintenance work for Central Midlands Adult Day Center and working with one of his favorite friends, Mr. Howard. Leroy also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousin, friend, and partner, Josh Sumter, for the last 60 years.

Leroy leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Yvonne Washington; his children: Wanda, Aundrey, Rodney, Kevin (Twanada), Lisa, Tray, Tiffany Washington, and Dousel Gold (Rosa); fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Washington; one aunt, Dareatha Anderson; a special little friend, Elly boo; and a host of nieces, nephews, and favorite cousins.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Washington will be placed in the church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 12noon at Congruity Presbyterian Church, 3750 Congruity Road, Gable, SC 29051, with Rev. Alonzo Washington Officiating.

Interment will follow in Congruity Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 60 Albert Spears Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
