Leroy "Pinewood" Gooden, was born December 30, 1953 in Sumter County to the late Lee "Daddy" Gooden Sr. and Elouise Felder Gooden. He departed this earthly life on September 30, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Gooden attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age he joined New Hope UME Church. Leroy was previously employed at Palmer Memorial Chapel for several years and was with Job's Mortuary for 25 plus years until his passing.
Leroy was married to the late Mary Smith Gooden to this union they were blessed with three children and a stepson.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memories children, Jennifer (Julius) Carmichael, Jason (Katrina) Gooden, and Roger (Brezetta) Gooden, a stepson, Timothy Smith; four sisters, Essie (Freddie) Brunson, Eleanor Amos, Camilla (Isiah) Conyers of Pinewood, SC, and Anita Duren of Sumter, SC; two brothers, Lee Gooden Jr of Pinewood and James (Carolyn) Gooden of Denver, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday Oct. 6, 2016 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary
Mr. Gooden will be placed in the church on Friday Oct.7 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Oct. 7 at 12noon at New Hope UME Church 19022 Panola Road, Pinewood, SC 29125 with Pastor James o. Robinson, Officiating, Rev. Lawrence E. Myers, Eulogist
Interment will follow in New Hope U.M.E. Church Cemetery.
