The life of Katherine (Kathy) Geter began on March 20, 1959 in Sumter, S.C. She was the daughter of Elijah and Emma Phillips.

She was educated in the public-school system of Sumter, S.C., and was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church. She served her church as a member of the Devine Inspirational Choir, where she enjoyed leading the choir in on Sunday mornings. Katherine Geter was employed in elderly care until she became ill.

Kathy was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She valued her time with her children and grandchildren and provided them with words of encouragement, love, and wisdom.

Mrs. Katherine Geter's earthly journey ended on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Prisma Health Toumey Hospital in Sumter, S.C. She took a new journey with the Lord and a new life has begun. Our Heavenly Father knows best and comforts his child in heaven. She will be missed by those who knew and truly love her.

The joyful memories of our beloved Kathy will be cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband: Wade Geter; her four sons: Ivan Tyrell (Marie) Phillips, Sr., Malcolm Dwayne Geter, Todd Lydell (Tasha) Geter, Sr., and Andre Lamont (Angela) Geter, Sr.; twelve grandchildren: Mykira Geter, Destiny Phillips, Aniyah Geter, Chloe Geter, Andre Geter Jr., Morgan Geter, Ivan Phillips, Jr., Todd Geter, Jr., Shaleet Geter, Sincere Thomas, Onisty Thomas, and Gabrielle Lewis; one devoted and loving sister, Shirley Washington; nephews, Derrick Washington and Daquez Washington; nieces: Rhonda Washington, Dasia Washington, and Daila Washington; a special nephew and Godson, Deonta Farmer-Washington; and a host of relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Geter will be placed in the church on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Allen Chapel AME Church 471 Lynam Road Sumter, SC 29154, with Rev. Dr. George E. Hicks, Pastor and Eulogist, and Rev.. Mary Cynthia Myers Officiating.

Interment will follow in Allen Chapel Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home 740 Reed Roman Road Sumter, SC 29153.
