Obituary

Josephine "Annie Mae" Montgomery Green, widow of Cecil Green of Sumter, SC, was born on September 3, 1938 in the Mayesville Community of Sumter County to the late Tony Montgomery and the late Emma Marshall Montgomery McFadden of Mayesville, SC. She departed this earthly life for the heavenly realm on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

She attended the public schools of Sumter and migrated to New York at the age of 18. She later met and married Cecil Green and together they owned and operated C&A Dry Cleaners in Queens, NY for several years. She returned to Sumter County in 1980 and subsequently worked in the field of Health Care until she retired in 1998. In 2005, she became a resident of the Shiloh Randolph Manor Senior Citizens Complex in Sumter, where she lived, loved and thrived until her untimely passing.

Josephine was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Mayesville in her youth and upon her return to South Carolina in 1980.

Josephine is survived by her devoted family; son, Cecil (Cherrise) Montgomery of Toronto, Canada and daughter, Beverly Montgomery of Sumter; grandchildren: Quanda L. (Ryan) Boykin of Dalzell, SC, Terika M. Holland of Greenville, SC, Anthony and Andrew Montgomery of Jacksonville, FL, Adrian F. Burgess of Harlem, NY, and Kadeem Fullwood of Anchorage, Alaska; great-grandchildren: Kaelyn, Rhian, Angelize and Ariel; her sister, Viola (Alonza) Wilson of Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law, Lucretia Montgomery and Janie Montgomery both of Sumter and a host of extended family, friends and community neighbors at the Shiloh Randolph Manor Senior Citizens Complex in Sumter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Azalee Lee; son, Ronnie S. Montgomery; brothers: Alphonso Montgomery, Sr., Joe Louis Montgomery, Sr., Sammie L. Montgomery and Tommie L. Montgomery.

Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 12-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Green will be placed in the church on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Eugene Myers Officiating.

Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 6 Cumberland Way Sumter, SC 29150.
