Jonnie Prince Amis, widow of Herman Amis, was born to the late Willie Woodrow Prince and Emmie Burgess Prince on November 14, 1942 in Clarendon County, South Carolina. On Sunday June 30, 2019, God called for one of his earthly angels to her eternal resting place at the Brainbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bronx, New York at the age of 76.
Jonnie was educated in Clarendon County school in South Carolina. She later relocated to New York City, where she gained employment with various companies including IBM manufacturing in Bronx, NY, Display Die Cutter, and Pace University to name a few. She was not only a good daughter, sister, and wife but a mother figure to many of her nieces and nephews. Jonnie Prince Amis' life was one filled with much love for she was loved by many.
Being sadly missed, she leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Ruby Prince Hannah of Sumter SC; two brothers, Oralee (Jonnie) Prince of Fayetteville, NC and Isaiah (MaryAnn) Prince of Bronx, NY; three sisters-in-law: Mary Prince of Florida, Ann Long of South Boston, Virginia and Dorothy Whitehurst of Bronx, NY; a special nephew that cared for her dearly, Steven Whitehurst; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Ricky Simmons Officiating.
Interment will follow in Old McFadden Cemetery.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
