John W. Glisson, Jr. was born August 29, 1931 in Sumter, SC to the late Mr. Johnnie Glisson, Sr. and Mrs. Elise Smith-Glisson. He was educated in the Sumter County public school system. As a child, John attended Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter.

John relocated to New York, where he met and was joined in holy matrimony to Inozia Henry in 1957; this union brought forth one child, Jennie Glisson.

In 1975, he gave his life to the Lord, and became a faithful Deacon and served the Lord with a passion. John was multi-talented, and an honest and hard worker. His chosen profession was truck driving.

Due to issues, John later relocated to South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

John leaves to cherish his fond memories, his daughter, Jennie Glisson of New Jersey; sister, Ellen Coleman; brother, James L. Glisson of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Glisson will be placed in the church on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Canty Memorial Church of God in Christ 873 Woodcrest Street Sumter, SC, with Superintendent Eugene Canty Officiating.

Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 665 Duffie Drive Wedgefield, SC.
