Obituary

Mr. Jerry Leach, Sr., son of the late Oscar Leach and Doris Blue, was born on December 28, 1951. He departed this earthly life on Friday, July 19, 2019.

Jerry attended the Scottland County public schools in Laurinburg, NC. After relocated to Sumter, SC, he became employed by the City of Sumter, JBS Pilgrim's Pride, and Santee Print Works of Sumter, SC. He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Helen Leach on December 28, 1974, and to this union six children were born.

He leave to cherish his memory his children: Nicole (Michael) Williams of Maryland, Erica LaShawn Leach, Teqesta Monique Leach, Jerry Leach, Jr., Javaris Shamar Leach all of Mayesville, SC, and Wallace Jamel Marquette Leach of Sumter, SC; eight grandchildren: Briana, Shamiya, Neleh, Zhariah, Danardo, Zakayla, Ja'quori, and Ethan; thirteen siblings: Marcella McCoy, Rosemary Watkins, Barbara Walls all of New York City, Sandra Faye (Desmon) Cowan of Wagram, NC, Barbara J. Adams of High Point, NC, Doris Leak, James Ingram, Marshall (Sally) McCoy all of Laurinburg, NC, Steven Harlee of Charlotte, NC, Deborah McCrea, Lillian McCrea, Annette McCrea, and Caroline McCrea all of Washington, DC; three sisters-in-law: Eliza (George) Sampson of Maryland, Genova McGee and Juanita McGee both of Mayesville, SC; one brother-in-law, Archie Plowden; a father-in-law, Sylvester W. McGee of Mayesville, SC; a companion, Teresa Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Leach; a sister, Diane Smith; a sister-in-law, Peggy A. Mack; and a mother-in-law, Carrie L. McGee.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Leach will be placed in the church on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 3pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 4pm on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Minister Sylvester McCoy, Eulogist, and Deacon Allan Jefferson Officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 2165 Avenue D Mayesville, SC 29104
