Janette "Montgomery" English, also known as Jean, departed this life on May 17, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital at the age of 55. She was born on Feb. 24, 1962, in Sumter to Mary Lee James and the late Willie Montgomery.
Janette was the wife of Earl English. She was educated in the Sumter County Public School System. She was employed at Dupont Corp. for years, until her health began to fail at an early age. Janette was one of a kind; she was very lovable and charming and carried a beautiful smile. She enjoyed laughing and joking with her friends.
Janette is survived by her mother/caregiver, Mary Lee James; four sisters, Daisy Rebecca James, Sarah Elizabeth James, Catherine Bracey and Henrietta (Louis) Brunson; one brother, Henry Lee James, all of Sumter; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Montgomery; sister Loretta Montgomery; and brothers Thomas James and Harry Lee James.
Public viewing will be held today from 2 to 7 p.m. at Job's Mortuary.
Ms. English will be placed in the church on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sumter, with Pastor Marquis Jackson and Pastor Michael Miller, worship leaders.
Interment will follow in Bradford Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends at the home, 48 Dunway Drive, Sumter.
