August 1, 1943 – July 26, 2018
On August 1, 1943 in Nyack, NY, the late John L. Richardson and Thelma Thompson Richardson was blessed with their second child, a son whom they named James T. Richardson.
"Jimmy", as we all knew him by, received his education in the New York City Schools, where he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Bronx, NY.
Jimmy worked for the City of New York as a "Park Director" and later for the New York City Transit Authority as a "Subway Conductor', where he retired after over 25 years of service. Jimmy always visited Sumter, which he where he relocated after retirement to join his longtime friend "Archie."
Jimmy began attended LaGree AME Church along with Archie, where he later joined while under the leadership of Rev. Henry Williams. Jimmy was a faithful member of LaGree, serving on the Trustee Board, The Male Chorus, Church Photographer, and a devoted Local President of the Sons of Allen. Jimmy loved being around people and loved taking pictures. Before you knew it, he will snap a picture of you in a split second and will politely walk away. Jimmy love the New York Mets & and the New York Giants. He has traveled to Canada, Las Vegas and has cruised many islands and attended all of the Montgomery Family Reunions.
Jimmy was affiliated with the Masons under the "King Hiram Grand Lodge" in Newark, NJ, where he received his 33 rd Degree.
On July 27, 2018, at the age of 74, Jimmy took his final rest at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his precious memories: a brother, John L. "Bill" Richardson of Sumter, SC; a sister, Jacqueline Ware of Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Robert McCrimons of NYC; a special friend, Ida C. Fox; a longtime friend of over 60 years, Archie Montgomery and the entire Montgomery family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all whom will Jimmy dearly.
Along with his parents, Jimmy also joins his sister, Norman Ann McCrimons, in heaven.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Richardsonwill be placed in the church onSaturday, August 4, 2018 at 12pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at LaGree AME Church 2920 Kolb Road Sumter, SC 29154, with Rev. Jeanette Collins-Murray Officiating.
Interment will follow in Cain Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends at his residence, 413 Adams Avenue Sumter, SC 29150.
