Mr. James "Buster" Ford, Sr., son of the late Mr. Delgar and Naomi Carey Ford, was born on December 19, 1930 in Sumter County. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his home.

He received his education in the public school system of Sumter County.

James, affectionately known as "Buster," was joined in holy matrimony to Shirul Pearson on June 21, 1957, and to this union they were blessed with 5 children: Gwendolyn, Ricky, James, Jr., Robert, and Brenda.

He was employed by Carolina Furniture for 50 years.

James joined Jehovah Baptist Church in 1949, where he was a member for 69 years. He brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was always willing and ready to help someone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Shirul Pearson Ford; five children: Gwendolyn (Johnny) Washington, Brenda (Perry) Tiller, Ricky (Tina) Ford, James Ford, Jr., and Robert Earl Ford all of Sumter, SC; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary R. Pearson of Maryland; a brother-in-law, Ervin (Patricia) Pearson of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Ford will be placed in the church on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 12noon for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 805 S. Harvin Street, Sumter, SC, with Pastor Marion H. Newton, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the home, 204 Albert Spears Drive, Sumter, SC.
