Obituary

Ivan Cederic Plowden was born on July 15, 1957, in New York City to the late Annette Johnson and Ferdinand Plowden Sr. formerly of Sumter SC. Ivan was the youngest of the children. Ferdinand, Jr.  and Stanley. Ivan attend and joined Bethany Baptist Church, in Harlem where he worshiped with his family.

From 1983 to 1987, Ivan was a Active Duty with the United States Army and the Reserves from 1987 to 1989. While Ivan was in the Army he received the Army Good Conduct Medal, The Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon the Expert Rifle Badge, and the Sharpshooter Badge. In the 1990s Ivan also earned a Diploma in industrial Maintenance from Central Carolina Technical College from Sumter SC.

In 1989, Ivan and met Kim Allen in security class with Burns Security, Brooklyn, New York. After Hurricane Hugo in 1989, Ivan and Kim relocated to Sumter, SC. In January 1991, Geneva Plowden was born from this relationship. In 2000, Ivan and Kim were married in SC.

He worked at various locations, before retiring from Santee Print. Ivan loved his New York Giants, playing video games with his grandsons Jacob and Joshua, fishing, playing cards, playing backgammon, riding his motorcycle with the Southern Style Motorcycle Club, listening to jazz music, and attending family gatherings.

Ivan Cederic Plowden transitioned on Tuesday, November 21,2023 on his 23rd wedding anniversary. He was proceed in death by his mother Deaconess Annette Plowden; his father, Deacon Ferdinand C. Plowden, Sr; his sister-in-law (Ferdinand), Minster Dr. Yvonne Plowden; his nephew(Stanley). Japhet Plowden; and his father-in-law(Kim), William Allen Sr.
