Isreal Lee "Larry" Bowman was born in Sumter, South Carolina, on Aug. 5, 1957. He was born the fourth of nine children to Mr. Isreal Tinder and Ms. Gussie Mae Johnson. He departed this life on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Hephzibah, GA.
Larry completed his Elementary Education in the Sumter County School System and graduated from Sumter High School in 1976. Upon graduating he enlisted into the United States Army, where he served Honorably for twenty-one years and three months. During his tenure in the Army, Isreal faithfully served his country as an "88Mike" – a Motor Transport Operator, a Training NCO and a Drill Sergeant.
On December 2, 1985, Isreal was joined in Holy Matrimony to Vanessa Gary, of Sumter, SC and to that union they parented two children, Shaton and Rashaun.
Isreal "Larry" Bowman was a real "mover and shaker." He was truly the family's "go-to-guy." Larry was "crazy funny," with an infectious laugh that everyone recognized. He loved to see people enjoying themselves and having fun. He was always dependable, accountable and responsible. But most of all he was loveable.
His precious memories will be cherished by his loving wife of thirty-two year, Vanessa, of Hephzibah, GA; one daughter Shaton (Jamar) Evans of Guam; one son, RashaunIsreal Bowman of Hephzibah, GA; two granddaughters Keyairra and Keyona Evans of Guam; one step-son Corry Johnson of Sumter, SC; two brothers, Sammie Lee and Leroy Bowman, of Sumter, SC; four sisters, Joyce Woods, and Nellie (Joseph) Ramirez, of Sumter, SC; Mattie Washington and Janie Lee Johnson, of Winston-Salem, NC. His precious Mother-in-law, Ruby Gary and, four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Isreal Lee "Larry" Bowman is gone, but NEVER forgotten.
Proceeding him in death were his Father, Isreal Tinder, his Mother, Gussie Mae Johnson and two sisters Essie Mae Session and Michelle Johnson.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday November 3, 2017 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Bowman will be placed in the church on Sat. at `1230pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Sat. November 4 at 1:30PM at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center (Westend Community Church) 101. S. Salem Ave, Sumter with Rev. Michael T. Sinclair, Officiating.
Interment will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 12 NOON at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
Family will be receiving friends at 876 South Harvin Street, Sumter.
