Herbert Gayle departed this earthly life on July 25, 2017 at Blue Ridge National Health Care. He was born in Sumter County on January 25, 1954 to Azalee Floyd Gayle and the late Dave (Sonny) Gayle.

Herbert had a quiet spirit and was known for his generosity. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Mr. Gayle was employed by B. L. Montague and retired from Santee Print.

His precious memory will be cherished by his mother, Mrs. Azalee Floyd Gayle of Wedgefield, South Carolina. One son, Kenton Gayle of Wedgefield, South Carolina. Siblings: three brothers, David (Bawana) Gayle and Robert Gayle both of Wedgefield, South Carolina and Leroy Gayle of Clarksville, Tennessee. Six sisters, Dorothy (Lawrence) Miles of Atlanta, Georgia, Jean Howard of Wedgefield, South Carolina, Inez (Ellis) Belton of Elgin, South Carolina, Patricia Epps of Sumter, SC, Linda Gayle of Wedgefield, South Carolina and Wanda (Terry) Wells of Augusta, Georgia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

His father Dave (Sonny) Gayle and a brother Burnie Gayle preceded Herbert in death.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Gayle will be placed in the church on Sat. at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Sat. July 29, 2017 at 11am at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Ave. Sumter with Rev. Reginald Floyd, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in Orangehill Independent Methodist Church Cemetery, Wedgefield, SC.

Family will be receiving friends at 2310 Emil Road, Wedgefield, SC 29168.
