Hawey Dukes was born on April 5, 1962 in Sumter County to the late Wallace Henry and Julia Rebecca Tomlin Dukes. He departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Hawey attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Mayewood High School. He was previously employed by Kmart and Carolina Furniture Works. At an early age, he joined Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Junior Usher Board.
He leaves to cherish fond memories one son, Brian Lamar Washington of Sumter, SC; five sisters, Roxena (Reverend Ranzy) McFadden, Elouise (Timothy) Williams, Katrina Gordan, Genova (Gregory) Witherspoon, and Patricia Dukes all of Sumter, SC; three brothers, Robert L. (Ruby Mae) Dukes and Johnnie Dukes of Sumter, SC and William Dukes of Columbia, SC ; one uncle, Deacon Robert (Marybell) Tomlin; one aunt, Vernice Dukes of Manning, SC; two special friends Mary Frances Washington and Kelly Rhabb and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Ann Dukes, Mary Louise Robinson, and Martha Gordon; two brothers, Wallace Dukes Jr. and Jerome Dukes; paternal grandparents, Bungy and Roxena Bradshaw Dukes and maternal grandparents, Abram and Mary Jackson Tomlin.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr.Dukes will be placed in the church on Fri. at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held on Fri. June 2, 2017 at 2pm atSalem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Ave, Sumter with Rev. Ranzy McFadden Jr., Officiating .
Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
