On August 01, 2023, Harrison Witherspoon, Jr., departed this life at his home in Pforzheim, Germany.
Known to everyone as "Junior", was born on March 19, 1959 in Sumter, a son of the late Harrison Witherspoon, Sr., and Vermell Richburg Witherspoon.
He attended the public school of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in 1977. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served more ten (10) years as a vehicle mechanic. While stationed in Germany he met and married Regina Staps.
Junior was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Silver, SC.
Junior is survived by his wife Regina; his daughter, Tatjana Wittenberg of Pforzheim, Germany; a granddaughter, Nina Wittenberg and a grandson, Maximilian "Max" Wittenberg of Pforzheim, Germany; one sister, Bertha Lucas of Sumter, SC; three brothers: Gregory(Genova) Witherspoon of Sumter, SC, Thomas Witherspoon of Sumter, SC and Anthony (Marie) Witherspoon of Sumter, SC; two sister-in-laws Janie Holland of Sumter, SC; Susanne Thiemann of Lubbecke, Germany and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: James L. Witherspoon and Rev. Jackie L. Holland; grandparents Ferinand and Camilla Witherspoon, and Cokley and Bertha Richburg.
Memorial Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter, SC with Rev. Ranzy McFadden, Jr., Officiating.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
