Gladys Baxter St. Thomas, widow of Ivan St. Thomas and daughter of the late Nazareth and Luetisher Tyndal Baxter was born on November 12, 1930 in Sumter, SC. She departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2017 at her residence.

She graduated from high school in 1947 from Johnson High in South Carolina. After graduating she went on to nursing school in Charleston, SC and obtained her LPN in nursing. ST. Thomas later moved to Manhattan, NY, where she found a job at Montifiore Hospital in New York. While working there she met the love of her life her husband the late Ivan E. St. Thomas. To this union three children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Vincent O. St. Thomas of Los Angeles, CA, Derrick M. St. Thomas of Queens, NY, Agnes A. Rosemon St. Thomas of Staten Island, NY, Ineatha D. St. Thomas of Sumter, SC, Dwayne A. St. Thomas of Sumter, SC and Gregory L. St. Thomas of Bronx , NY; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; sisters, Cardia M. Gamble of Baltimore, MD, Catherine Baxter of Lynchburg, SC and Lutisher Dickey; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, Gordon I. St. Thomas and Mary Taylor; one grandson, Tyrell L. St. Thomas; three brothers-in-law, Fitzherbert St. Thomas, Virgil St. Thomas and Claude Ince.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday Dec. 29 from 3-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10am at The Good Sheppard Episcopal Church, Sumter.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
