Obituary

Olympia Geraldine Singletary Dinkins, 92, was born on February 24, 1925, in Mayesville, SC to of the late Phenie and Brantley Viola Wactor Singletary. She departed this life on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

She joined the church at an early age, where she served as a faithful church musician until her health failed.

Geraldine retired after more than 32 years of teaching elementary school in Sumter and Lee Counties. She entered into Holy Matrimony with the late George Arnette Dinkins Sr. and to this union four sons were born.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son and caretaker, Dayle Dinkins, five granddaughters-Angela Dinkins-Smith (Scottie), Michele Dinkins, LaQuana Dinkins-James, Yasha Cowan and Ashley Baker, a dear daughter-in-law, Barbara G. Dinkins, a special cousin and niece, Gwen China, a host of great-grandchildren, family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sons, SFC George Arnett Dinkins Jr., Gerald Madison Dinkins and Bruce Everett Dinkins.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Dinkins will be placed in the church on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 12 noon at Union Station AME Church, 945 S. Main St., Sumter, SC 29150, Dr. Philip Flowers, Officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the home, 509 S. Main St., Sumter, SC 29150.
