Mrs. Geneva McCoy Ervin was born to the late Oliver McCoy and Juanita Galloway McCoy, Sr., on January 3, 1924 in Sumter, South Carolina. She departed this life at her home on Monday, April 15, 2019.

Geneva was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, and at an early age, moved to New York City. She worked as a license beautician, Campbell Soup Company, and was a Teacher's Aide in Brooklyn, NY. Geneva loved children and her family.

In 1956, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. James Ervin, Sr. Even though she didn't have any biological children, she loved their children as her own.

Geneva leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Shirley Hawkins of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren: James, Eartha, Joseph, Heather, Troy and Vanessa; great-grandchildren: Sharnelle, Darnell, Deshawn, Charlicia, Michael, Deandre, Janaya, Jamari, Terrance, Ashuntae, Isaiah, Qumira, Sundiata, Sudan, Sumya, Jordyn, and Joslyn; one step daughter-in-law, Sylvia L. J. Ervin McClanahan of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother-in-law, Clarence White of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hattie McCoy and Mrs. Jeanette McCoy both of Sumter, SC; two special nephews, Oliver McCoy III and Allen McCoy; a special niece, Marilyn Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers; one sister; one step-son, James Ervin, Jr.; one step-grandson; and one step great-grandson.

Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Ervin will be placed in the church on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Michael Miller Officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park

Family will receive friends at the home 3755 Congruity Road Gable, SC 29051.
