Frances Bradley Williams, 82, widow of Ben Williams and daughter of the late Charlie Sr. and Irene (Miller) Bradley was born on March 17, 1937 in Lee County, SC. She departed this life on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
Frances was the third child of twelve children. In 1955, she met and married the late Ben Williams and to this union eight children were born: five daughters and three sons. She was a former member of Grant Hill Baptist Church of Dalzell, SC. and later joined St Paul AME church in 1960, where she served in numerous capacities. Frances was employed by the House of Lazarus for many years before her health declined. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, cooking and doing hair. Her favorite saying was "Just because you don't have anything, you don't have to look like it".
Memories will be cherished by eight children: Gwen (Otis) Crawford of Philadelphia, Linda (Tony) Coleman, Patricia Williams, Marvin (Brenda) Williams all of Sumter, Debbie (Jeremiah) Roberts of Dubai United Arab Emirates, Gregory (Lisa) Williams of Sumter, Tracey (LaTeca) Williams of Grier, SC, and Natoshia Williams of Sumter; six brothers: Isaac (Blanche) Bradley, Bennie (Frances) Bradley, Alford Bradley, Raymond (Sheryl) Bradley, John Bradley, and Abraham Bradley; one sister, Florence Wilson; sisters-in-law: Annie Bradley, Rosa Lee Bradley, Lula Bradley, and Genova (Joseph) Isaac of Sumter, SC; brothers-in-law, Clifton Mack and Odell (Nancy) Williams; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a special niece, whom she loved as a daughter, Alfreda Spann, and a host of nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie Bradley, Jr, Eugene Bradley, and Milton Bradley; one sister, Nancy Mack; three sisters-in-law: Georgia Lesane, Annie Mae Williams, and Mary Lee Williams, and three brothers-in-law: Jack Williams, Bernell Williams and Jack Wilson.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Williams will be placed in the church on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 12noon on Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Paul AME Church 835 Plowden Mill Road Sumter, SC 29153, with Pastor Frederick Graves Officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 1784 French Williams Road Sumter, SC 29153.
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
