Life Reflection
Frances Nixon R. Nixon, was born on March 21, 1942 in Sumter County to the late Estelle Miller Nixon and Willie (Biggan) Nixon. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Dixon. Frances departed this earthly life on September 8, 2016.
Frances was raised in a loving and Christian home, she had the love for serving God. She was a life-long member of Willow Grove AME Church, where she served diligently. Frances served in many capacities including the Steward Board, Building Fund, Pastor's Aide Ministry, Floral Club, Missionary Society, Scholarship Committee, Mayfest Committee, Concerned Citizens, and Family and Friends Committee.
Frances was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was an Honor graduate of the former Ebenezer High School, Class of 1961. She was the Valedictorian of her class. Frances was also a graduate of South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC, and did further studies at the University of South Carolina and Francis Marion University. During her education career she was the recipient of many awards, plaques, and certificates. Frances held life membership in the South Carolina and the National Education Associations. She is featured in the 1972 Edition of Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America. She received several awards from the NAACP for supportive services. She was a former Certified Poll Manager for Sumter County and a former Notary for the State of South Carolina and a former YPD Director for the Lancaster Area of the Columbia Annual Conference. She was also a former Business Owner. Frances retired from the Lee County School District, after serving 31 years as School Library Media Specialist for West Lee and Lower Lee Schools. Everyone she met seem to love her.
To Cherish her precious memories and celebrate her life are; one daughter, Terry Dixon Warren; one son, Wilbur Jerome (Angela) Dixon; adopted daughter, Laura Vincent, Carrie (Henry) Prioleau, Lasheon (Raymond) Kirkland and Denise Clea; adopted sons, Charles L. Dixon and Jimmy Dixon, and Nathan Singleton; sisters, Cynthia (Leon) O'Neal, Columbia, SC, Ethel Mae Hall, Columbia, SC; adopted sisters, Curlie M. (Thoronton) Waiters, Dorcas N. Williams, Sarah N. (Lewis) Howard, Marie N. (Joe) Callhan, Fannie House, Mary E. Williams, Lillian (Curtiss) Ferguson, Janie M. Murray, Priscilla (Thomas) Frame, Geneva Watkins, Myrteen King; brothers, Ernest Ricks, Charles D. (Annie) Miller, Phillip (Para Lee) Nixon; special niece and nephew, Florence and George Drew, Montclair, NJ, and Charles Williams Jr., Rembert, SC; one uncles Dr. Roosevelt (Calprenia) Nixon; Goddaughter, Justicia (Robert) Moore; Godsons, KJ Miller and Doniza Williams; a host of other extended families, friends, nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her biological mother, Edna Miller Wise, two brothers, two brothers, Fred Wise and Charles Richberg and son Larry Dixon.
Public Viewing will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Dixon will be placed in the church on Tuesday at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 11am at Willow Grove AME Church, Horatio, SC
Interment will follow in Willow Grove AME Church Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends at the home 3775 Horatio Hagood Road, Rembert, SC
