Obituary

Sister Eva Mae Lawson was born January 3, 1931, in Sumter, SC to the late George & Mattie Jackson. Her life ended on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Prisma Health (Palmetto Heath Tuomey).

Sister Lawson attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an Early age, she became a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed by Hopewell Nursing Facility, Sunset Country Club, Moore House McKenzie, and retired from Lonely Supply Company. Sister Lawson loved shopping, keeping her home tidy, opening her home to foster children, and spending her extra time with her grandchildren and family.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: One beloved daughter, Julia (William) Ballard of Sumter; two devoted sons, Charlie (Martha) Lawson Jr., and Levi (Algerina) Pringle of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Alfred) Hamilton of St. Stephens, SC, Charlean (Pastor Gary D.) Miller, Angel (Marquis) Gyant, Charles Lorenzo Ballard, all of Sumter, SC, Santanna Pringle of Columbia, SC, Destiny Pringle of Sumter, SC; twelve great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Darius Hamilton, Samantha Warren of St. Stephens, SC, Gary Dexter and Gabrielle Miller, Zion and Aiden Smith, ZaMiyah and DaManiGyant, Charles Jr. and Elijah Ballard all of Sumter, SC, and Jason Witherspoon Jr. of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Ruby Fuller of Sumter, SC and Sara Bell Koroma of Newark, NJ; two brothers, Arthur Jackson of Irvington, NJ, Siegel (Audrey) Jackson of Perth Amboy, NJ, brother-in-law Calvin Lawson of Norwalk, CT, sister-in-law Mary Lawson of Sumter, SCand a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded by six sisters, Ida Brown, Doretha China, Albertha James, Gardenia Gretter, Mattie Jacobs, and Amy Frazier; one brother, George Robert Jackson, III.

Public Viewing will be held on January 23, 2019 from 2-6pm for viewing until the hour of service.

Ms. Lawson will be placed in the church on Thursday, Jan 24 at 11AM for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held at 12noon on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Westend Community Church 101 S. Salem Ave, Sumter with Pastor Gary D. Miller, Officiating/Eulogist Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Bowman, SC

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter, 10 Van Buren Drive, Sumter, SC 29150
