Dinkins
January 19, 1941 – June 13, 2019
Sgt Major (retired) Esau Dinkins, son of the late Thomas B., Jr. and Frances Gregg Dinkins, was born in Sumter, SC on January 19, 1941. He departed this life on Thursday, night, June 13, 2019 in the Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Esau joined St. Mark United Methodist Church at an early age. He attended Lincoln High School and served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring after thirty plus years of service.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his loving and caring daughter, Helen Dinkins; two grandchildren, Travis and London all of Augusta, GA; siblings: Mary D. Sarvis-Bethea of Columbia, SC, Richard, Robert (Juanita) and Leroy (Louvenia J.) all of Sumter, SC, and Cornell (Mary) Dinkins of Summerville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Jeremiah N. Dinkins (2010), Thomas B Dinkins III (2012), Jacob Dinkins (his twin, 2014), and two infants; an aunt, Belle D. Mosley (2016) and several nephews.
Public Viewing will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Dinkins will be placed in the church on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 1pm for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 South Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150,
Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Leroy Dinkins, on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 4-8pm. 1060 East Calhoun Street, Sumter, SC 29153
Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
