Ernest King, Sr., husband of Vastien Kempson King, was born on September 11, 1947 to the late Henry King, Jr. and Ruby King. He departed this life on January 15, 2019 at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC.

Ernest was a member of Bethesda Church of God, under the leadership of Pastor Al Sims. He was educated in the public schools of South Carolina until the age of 16. He relocated to New York City, where he completed his education at Brandeis High School. Ernest worked for many years in NYC at a Printing Company. He then decided to move back to Sumter to be with his mother.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Vastine Kempson King; a son, Ernest (Raquel) King of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Chanda (Don Brock) Kempson of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Jimmy (Evelyn) King of Sumter, SC; sisters: Virginia (Frank) James of Miami, FL, Minnie (March) Maple, Ruth (Willie) Ramsey both of Sumter, SC, and Delores (Angelo) Taylor of Palm Bay, FL; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; and a nephew.

Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. King will be placed in the church on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Bethesda Church of God 2730 Broad Street Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Al Sims, Jr. Officiating.

Interment will follow in Heaven's Gate Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home of his sister, 1240 Winyah Street Sumter, SC 29150
