Obituary

Sister Emma L. McLeod Wilson, 92, was born on April 8, 1926 in Sumter County, South Carolina to the late Baum and Rebecca Bradley McLeod, Sr. Emma was the great niece of the late Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. She departed this life on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Emma attended the public schools of Sumter County. She met and married the late Levi Wilson, Jr. at an early age, and was untied in matrimony for 77 years. Throughout this time, she dedicated her life to the welfare of her family. She joined Ebenezer AME Church and served faithfully until her health began to fail.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight children: William Thomas (Julia) Wilson, Levi Wilson III both of Florida, Margaret (Rev. Barry) Warren, Rebecca Carter, Roosevelt (Dottie) Wilson, Marilyn W. McCoy all of New York, Aaron (Isabella) Wilson of South Carolina, and Queen ( Walter) Brown of North Carolina; four sisters-in-law: Dollie Wilson, Dorothy Wilson both of Florida, Catherine McLeod of Maryland, and Georgia Rheames of South Carolina; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Emma L. Wilson was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Special thanks to four granddaughters: Adrienne Carter, Renarta Warren, Cynthia Toney, and Maeshonda Wilson.

Also special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Beaufort & Sandra Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph & Neola Davis.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Wilson will be placed in the church on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Ebenezer AME Church 119 East Sumter Street Mayesville, SC 29104, with Pastor Phillip L. Washington, Eulogist, and Rev. Barry D. Warren Officiating.

Interment will follow in Mayesville Community Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 222B Willow Street Mayesville, SC 29104.

Job's Mortuary, Inc., 312 S. Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
