Eloise Carroll Cox, 73, wife of James V. Cox, Sr., was born on July 8, 1945 in Sumter, SC to the late Jesse Carroll. Sr. and Ella McFadden Carroll. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at National Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Cox was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. In 1966, she found the love of her life, became a Air Force wife and traveled the world extensively. For Eloise, becoming a mother and grandmother was the greatest joy of her life. Eloise was truly a Phenomenal Woman. She was full of class, grace, and dignity- a true diva in her own right. Her legacy to her children and grandchildren is inundated with high standards, perseverance and a love and respect for Christ that cannot be waivered.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband, James; a son, James V. Cox, Jr. of Sumter; two daughters, Sharon D. Cox-Beltran of Sumter and Tonya M. (Billy) Artis of Aviano, Italy; four grandchildren: Imani T. Cox, Ariana D. Artis, Anthony D. Artis, and Breanna C. Beltran; cousins reared as sisters: Lou Ella Singleton, Nancy Slater, Maxine (James) Holliday; a niece, Sheriol Kelly; a nephew, Clyde Lewis; and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Carroll, Jr.; two sisters, Louise Carroll and Wilhelmina Williams; close cousins: Charles "Jeff" Shaw, Carolyn Carter, and Sally Meredith.
Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. Cox will be placed in the church on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church 320 W Fulton Street Sumter, SC 29150, with Rev. Dr. Cartrell W. Woods, Jr., Pastor, Officiating, and Rev. Dr. Ralph W. Canty, Sr., Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends at the home, 1330 Crowndale Drive Sumter, SC 29150.
