Sis. Dorothy Campbell P. Howard was the first child born to the late Sam and Mary Hunter Campbell on July 9, 1933 in Sumter County, SC. Eternal life came to Dorothy on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at her residence.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Willow Grove AME Church in Horatio, SC. Sis. Howard attended Sumter County Schools, graduating from Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, SC.

Her career opportunities included employment at Shaw Air Force Base and later at Stateburg Headstart for 30+ years, where she received several certificates of Appreciation.

While employed at Shaw Air Force Base, she met and later married the late Leroy W. Howard for 45 years and they blessed with one son. She joined Wayman Chapel AME Church, where she served faithfully on the Choraliers Choir, Church School Class #1, Head of Stewardess Board #5 for several years, Women's Missionary Society and the Crafting Bees.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Azalee P. Anthony of Columbia, SC, Gloria Peay of Ellenwood, GA, and Dorothy Mae (Larry) Johnson of San Antonio, TX; sons, Alger Peay, Jimmy (Valerie) Peay both of Sumter, SC, and Patrick Howard of Florence, SC; sisters: Mary Ree (Leroy) Ramsey of Sumter, SC and Irene Simmons of Cross, SC; brothers, Francis (Ruth) Campbell of Rembert, SC and Stephenson (Dawn) Campbell of Hopkins, SC; sister-in-law, Josephine Campbell of Washington, DC; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friend, Nancy Middleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sis. Howard was preceded in death by her brothers: Sammy, William, Wallace, Campbell; and sisters, Precious Wilson and Susie Mitchell.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Howard will be placed in the church on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10am for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Wayman Chapel AME Church 160 North Kings Highway Sumter, SC 29154, with Rev. Dr. Dennis W. Broughton, Jr., Pastor, Eulogist and Rev. Charlie S. Howard Presiding.

Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the home, 5370 Keith Road Sumter, SC 29154.
