Doris "Ruby" Gary, widow of Moses Gary and daughter of the late Jake and Emma Mack Wilson was born in Sumter, SC.
Ruby accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and enjoyed worshipping and praising God every Sunday. She was a member of the senior Citizen's ministry and the Inspirational Choir.
She attended the public schools of Sumter County. Ruby was united in holy matrimony to the late Moses Gary, Sr., and to this union eight children were born. She was a loving mother to all in her community.
God saw fit to give His servant rest, and called her home on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from her earthly residence.
The Life of Ruby will continue to shine through her five daughters: Joanne Wilson, Rudine Richardson both of Sumter, Brenda (Eddie) Pringle of Columbia, Cynthia Porter of Batesburg, and Vanessa Bowman of the home; twenty-two grandchildren of which four were raised in the home: Charmaine Gary, Shakelia Brunson, James Brunson, Jr., and Vanessa Pinckney; thirty-four great-grandchildren of which three were reared in the home: Chris Dwyer, Jr, Chainque Dwyer, and Sa'Quon Brunson; one great-great-grandchild; two adopted daughters, Elaine (Curtis) Singleton and Sharon Housey; two adopted grandsons; a daughter-in-law, Karla Gary; her caregiver, Carrie Rosenburg; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons: Moses Gary, Jr., Larry Wilson and Jerome Gary; a grandson, Jerell Gary; three sons-in-law; and a brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 South Salem Avenue, Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Leroy Blanding officiating.
Interment will follow in Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the home, 876 South Harvin Street, Sumter, SC 29150. The family request all visitors to wear facial masks.
